HR – HPV ELITe Panel
Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and cervical cancer is the 4th most frequent cancer among women. HPV is responsible of 4.5% (630,000) of all new cancer cases worldwide. HPV16 is consistently the most frequent genotype in all HPV-related cancer sitesHigh-risk types of HPV types 16 and 18 are the most dangerous, since they cause about 70% of cervical cancers. There are more than a dozen types of high-risk” HPV that can cause abnormal cells to form on the cervix. These abnormal cell changes may gradually develop into cervical cancer if not removed. The 14 types of high-risk HPV are known by the numbers 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68Low-risk types of HPV: there are about 12 types of HPV that are called “low risk” because they cannot cause cervical cancer. They can, however, cause genital warts or very minor cell changes on the cervix. High Risk HPV ELITe Panel product is a qualitative multiplex nucleic acids real time amplification assay for the detection and differentiation of the DNA of Human Papilloma Virus 14 high-risk types in DNA samples extracted from cervical swabs. The test specifically identifies types HPV16 and HPV18 while concurrently detects the rest of the high risk types (31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68). The assay is CE-IVD validated in combination with ELITe InGenius® , a fully automated sample-to-result solution.”
