Gastrointestinal Viral ELITe Panel

Rotavirus: The most common cause of diarrhea among infants and young children 25-50% of all hospital admissions for severe diarrhea are associated with Rotavirus contamination 140 million infected people each year and 600.000 deaths each year. Adenovirus: the second most common virus causing gastroenteritis in young children, especially types 40 and 41. The 15-20% of viral gastroenteritis worldwide in young children are caused by adenoviruses with 100.000 deaths each year in children below 2 years. Astrovirus: One of the leading causes of pediatric gastroenteritis worldwide Astrovirus. It is estimated that 2-9% of all reported gastroenteritis cases in children worldwide are caused by Astroviruses. Gastrointestinal Viral ELITe Panel product is a qualitative reverse transcription and nucleic acids amplification assay for the detection of RNA of Rotavirus and Astrovirus and DNA of Adenovirus serotypes 40 and 41 in samples extracted from human stool samples. The assay is CE-IVD validated, in combination with ELITe InGenius®, a fully automated sample-to-result solution.
